Osprey Farpoint 40 Travel Review

The Good: Simple design, great quality and a reasonable price. Farpoint 40's versatility makes it great for hiking or traveling.

The Bad: Lack of inside compartments makes it hard to pack light as you will feel the content moving even if you strap everything down using the outside straps on the front of the pack.

The Verdict: Farpoint 40 is a niche backpack, but even so it's a great product that is well made and well priced. If you hiking is something you do frequently, this backpack could be a great addition to your kit.

Overview

Osprey Farpoint 40 Travel backpack is a balanced option for those who need a pack for daily use, and occasional travel. The pack is very well made and is not cluttered with too many compartments and pockets. This simplicity of design makes it suitable for those who need a versatile and functional backpack.

Design

Compared to other backpacks in its category, Osprey Farpoint 40 offers a more simple and straightforward design. It's made of high quality nylon and is fairly light. It has a light frame built into the back that helps distribute the weight better and offers additional support. At first glance it may seem like there aren't enough pockets for this pack to be used in any serious application, but this is exactly what makes it great. Farpoint 40 was designed so that everything you've packed is secured and tied down, allowing you to move without having anything compromising your stability

Functionality

The pack is designed in a way that allows you carry it as a backpack or a messenger bag since the shoulder straps are removable. The same goes for the waist strap. Farpoint 40 sports a handle on the side and on the top for easier handling, and it also comes with straps on the front which are used to secure the contents so nothing moves around as you walk. There is also a laptop compartment that can easily fit a 15" device.

Specifications

  • Dimensions: 21" x 13" x 9"

Conclusion

Osprey Farpoint 40 backpack is made for hiking, but it can also be used as a carry-on bag. It's not the best choice for everyday use as it is fairly large and lacks compartments. However, the build quality and versatility make it a great choice for anyone looking for a backpack they can rely on. The price is just right for what you're getting.
