Motorola Moto E (2nd gen) Review

The Good: Really cheap and compact phone, with a nice screen and processor that's capable of tackling all the essentials. 

The Bad: Unimpressive camera and battery life. While the phone's price is great, Moto G is a much more capable phone and the price difference isn't that huge.

The Verdict: The Motorola Moto E is truly a bargain. The phone has a really nice set of features, and is more than capable of handling everyday tasks. If you're shopping for a phone on a very tight budget, then Moto E is a great choice.

Design and Build Quality

The Moto E features the trademark Motorola design with a curved design on the back that makes it very comfortable to hold in one hand. There's a slight dimple in the back where the Motorola logo sits. The phone features a 4.3-inch display, which makes it one of the smallest phones in its class. The phone definitely isn't thin and some people may even find a bit too fat, but most will be OK with it. The front of the device is really simple with all-glass design and two metallic strips at the top and bottom.

Software and User Experience

The Moto E runs on Android, and navigating around the OS is pretty swift and enjoyable. There's no lag when you're swiping between home screens, and the keyboard is very responsive when you're typing, despite the fact that the processor is slower than the one in the Moto G. The phone is surprisingly fast for its price.

Camera

Unfortunately, the rear camera has only 5 megapixels, which is not a lot by today's standards. The photos lack clarity, and there's no flash on the back, so forget about talking photos in situations with limited lighting. Overall, the camera is one of the worst features of this phone.

Conclusion

If you're working with a really small budget, the Moto E is probably the right choice for you. It handles everyday tasks like a champ, and feels really good in the hand. It has a relatively large battery for its size, but the battery life is not impressive. The main issue with this phone, however, is its subpar camera.
