Lenovo Tab 2 A10 Review

The Good: High quality speakers and Full-HD display make Tab 2 A10 perfect for media consumption. Long battery life, abundance of RAM, and reasonably fast CPU make it an all around great device.

The Bad: Sub standard choice of cameras, display bezels that are too easy to stain.

The Verdict: Lenovo Tab 2 A10 is a great media consumption device. It comes with all the right components necessary for this application, some of which you will hardly find in more expensive tablets. At this price, Lenovo Tab 2 A10 is a bargain.

Overview

Lenovo Tab 2 A10 is a budget solution for those who are looking for a 10 inch device that doesn't cost a fortune, and provides a decent performance. For a device of this size, Lenovo Tab 2 A10 is very portable and doesn't feel like a 10 inch tablet. When you look closely at its features, you will quickly notice that this tablet was designed mostly for entertainment and media consumption

Features and Performance

Unlike most tablets who try be good at everything, Lenovo Tab2 A10 seems to be designed with one prevailing purpose in mind. It sports a Full-HD 1920x1200 IPS panel that provides great performance, better than you would expect in this price range. Sound is reproduced using high quality Dolby Atmos speakers, allowing Tab 2 to sound way better than anything you can find in this price range. Having a 10-inch Full-HD screen in a decent resolution, combined with powerful speakers, makes Lenovo Tab 2 A10 a perfect media and entertainment tablet.

This tablet sports a plastic body with a shiny finish. The screen is surrounded by bezels that look great, but aren't too practical. If you want to keep this tablet clean, you will regularly have to wipe the screen, and especially the bezels to keep the fingerprints and other stuff off your device. Even though it's made of plastic, the build quality is good and definitely doesn't feel fragile.

Lenovo chose the Mediatek 1.5 GHz MT8165 CPU for this tablet, and even though it may seem underpowered compared to the competition, it delivers smooth performance that will allow you to play just about any Android game, and run any application. The CPU is backed up by 2 GBs of RAM, which is more than most applications need. Cameras are average at best. The front facing one is a 5MP unit that is decent, but the rear facing 8MP camera is of sub-par quality to say the least.

Lenovo Tab 2 A10 is running Android 4.4 Kitkat, which is behind the curve compared to the competition. However, Lenovo has announced that they will be providing a system upgrade that should bring Tab 2 A10 up to date OS wise. The battery Tab 2 A10 comes with is a 7200mAh unit that can last for approximately 10 hours of regular use.

Specifications:

  • CPU: Mediatek 1.5 GHz MT8165
  • Memory: 2GB RAM

  • Display: 10 Inch, 1920 x 1200 pixels (IPS)

Conclusion

Lenovo Tab 2 A10 is an affordable tablet that will allow you to enjoy your media in a better way than most other tablets in this price range can deliver. It excels where it matters the most with this use in mind, while the components found inside this tablet also allow you to use it for just about anything without compromising performance. It's not a super fast device, but it fast enough.
