Google Nexus 9 Review

The Good: The Google Nexus 9 performs very well, even when many apps are running. Its construction is very good and the tablet feels comfortable in hands.

The Bad: The device is a bit slow to charge. The biggest capacity model Google offers is 32GB and there's no microSD card slot, which means you can't expand the storage.

The Verdict: The Nexus 9 has a premium build, fast performance, and thanks to the fact its available direct from Google - it always receives the latest Android updates.

Overview

The Nexus 9 doesn't come with a fingerprint scanner or any other fancy feature found on a lot of higher-end tablets these days. Instead, the tablet focuses on essentials and we're totally fine with it.

Features and Performance

The Google Nexus 9 features one of the most powerful mobile processors on the market, which in combination with Android 5.0 Lollipop assures buttery smooth performance at all times. The nVidia Tegra K1 processor is so fast that you can easily run 20 apps and still play demanding games without any problems.

Unfortunately for some users, the Nexus 9 offers a maximum of 32GB of storage, and doesn't include microSD card expansion slots, so if you love to store a lot of photos and videos on your tablet, this may not be the one for you.

The 8.9-inch IPS display is really sharp and features wide viewing angles. The only problem we have with the screen is that it's somewhat dim at its maximum brightness level, which means it's difficult to see it outdoors.

The size of a battery is very good, but one of the most disappointing features of this tablet is how slow it charges.

Specifications:

  • CPU: 2.3 GHz dual-core Nvidia Tegra K1
  • Memory: 2GB RAM
  • Internal Storage: 16GB/32GB
  • Storage Expansion Options: non-expandable
  • Cameras: Front 1.6MP, Rear 8MP
  • Display: 8.9 inches, 2048 X 1536 pixels
  • Battery: 6,700 mAh
  • OS: Android OS, 5.0 Lollipop

Conclusion

The Nexus 9 focuses on what's important — incredibly fast performance, stunning and sharp screen and decent battery life. Unfortunately, it has its flaws — mainly the slow charging battery and the lack of microSD card slot. Nonetheless, this tablet is still a great buy if you don't need a lot of storage and some trendy features like the fingerprint sensor.
